Course description
This graduate course covers selective topics
in the finite element method with emphasis in the solution of systems of
equations governed by partial differential equations. In addition to
discussing basic elements of finite element spaces and approximations, a number of
more recent topics in the discontinous Galerkin method, stabilized finite element
methods for fluid flow problems, adaptive finite element techniques,
etc. will be discussed. The preparation of these lecture notes is work in progress --
so it may be sometime before completion.
